Empower Women through
Community POWER
Teach a man to fish and he can feed himself and his family; teach a woman the law and she can play an active role in promoting gender equality and reducing poverty in her community.
Nowhere is that clearer than in the Community POWER project. In 2018 we started with 100 women headed households. Why this target group? Simple, it is adolescent girls and families that lack a strong male counterpart who are most vulnerable to economic and legal exploitation. This project empowers women economically, legally, and physically.
Through rights training women are be able to access services and better understand how to use the law to support them.
With skills training the women learn how to use everyday materials to grow or create products to see to increase their household income. Each community receive training most suitable for their location.
After completing the training, women can apply for small loans to put their new skills to use. The loans are returned to a revolving community fund and other members can apply for loans.
While the women receive hands-on training, leaders from community organizations receive training on how to support and foster community development. This important training creates a supportive environment within the community.

During this training our participants learned about Vietnamese Land Law as well as Vietnamese Marriage and Family Law.Legal Training in April
The participants obtained practical knowledge on common issues related to the discussed topics and after the information session, many had the chance to consult with legal experts on their personal legal problems. Many were excited for this opportunity.Legal Training in May
The 100 qualified women of the ComPOW Project received training on Vietnamese Civil Law, Civil Procedure Law, Administrative Law, and Children Law.CDD Training in May

The Agricultural Training in July was one of our income generating training sessions that were designed to help project members reduce poverty and promote their economic activities.When women are empowered, they change the dynamics in the home and in the community.
