School Scholarships

Without the school scholarships provided by HSCV these wonderful children would be forced to stop attending school.

For only $50 you can sponsor an at risk child with a year of school fees. In return you will receive a photo, biography, and have the opportunity to exchange letters, pictures and drawings with the child.

Donate $50 now, using paypal's safe and secure network

For an additional $205 you can sponsor the child's family with a monthly donation of rice for one year. This donation provides the family with the flexibility to purchase other needed items such as protein, vegetables and clothing.

Donate $255 now, using paypal's safe and secure network.

Portions of your donation to any of direct sponsorship options will be used to support other HSCV programs where funding may be lacking.

Visitor and Volunteer Information

- VISITORS -

Visitors are welcome at HSCV. If you are in the Hanoi area for a short or extended period of time, we would love to show you our programs. Visitors can choose from the following options:

Option A - Sponsor Visits: This or number one recommended visitor option. This option provides visitors with the opportunity to meet families in HSCV programs. Current sponsors are invited to visit the children/families they are directly sponsoring. They will meet face to face with child(ren) they have provided with an Educational Scholarship, monthly Rice Donation, donated a bicycle to, or provided funding for surgery. They have the opportunity to visit the family's home and tour the local village. Potential sponsors are welcome to visit families and children who are in need of a Direct Sponsor. HSCV will assist in organizing the visit as well as provide a translator and guide. Typical transportation cost will range from $15 - $50 USD. Visitor should plan schedule a half day for the visit.

Option B - Rice Distribution Program: HSCV sponsors over 150 families with monthly donations of rice. Distributions take place at the beginning of each month in 3 locations. Visitors are welcome to observe and take part in the rice distribution. Additionally visitors will receive an educational overview of HSCV's work in Vietnam. Visitors will depart from Ha Noi at 7 am and can expect to return to Ha Noi by lunch. HSCV will assist in organizing the visit as well as provide a translator/guide. Typical transportation costs will range from $15 - $50 USD. This visit is limited to the normal Rice Distribution Schedule. This Option can easily be combined with Option A.

Option C - Orphanage Visit: HSCV supports a number of orphanages in Northern Vietnam. Assistance comes in many forms including clothing, bicycles, infant formula, nutrition, infrastructure, or time. A typical visit to an orphanage includes touring the center, visiting with the Director and time to play with the children. HSCV will assist in organizing the visit as well as provide a translator and guide. Typical transportation cost will range from $15 - $50 USD. In-kind donations are also welcome at the centers. Please inquire as to the specific needs of the centers.

Option D - Sister Schools: Our Sister School Program typically pairs poor rural schools with schools in Western countries. Please click here for details more about our Sister School Program. Current and prospective school representatives alike are welcome to visit schools in the country side. Visitors will be introduced to the Headmaster of the school, given a tour and educated on the specific needs of the school. HSCV will assist in organizing the visit as well as provide a translator and guide. Typical transportation cost is $50 USD. Visits can be completed in a half day.

If you are interested in any of the options above please send an email to Tran Ngoc Lien at tnlien@hscv.org. Be sure to include which option(s) you would like to participate in. We can not guarantee that we can meet your needs as a visitor, but we will do our best to make your visit to Viet Nam and HSCV memorable.

While we do not charge for our services, visitors are strongly encouraged to make a cash donation at the time of their visit. Without these valued donations HSCV would be unable to do our important work. Donations should be given directly to HSCV representatives. This is the only way we can insure the donations are spent in an appropriate manner. Thank you for understanding.

- VOLUNTEERS -

Volunteer positions with HSCV are very limited. We are currently seeking volunteers in the following capacities.

Events Coordinator - HSCV is currently seeking a volunteer to fulfil the position of Events Coordinator. The successful candidate in this role will be responsible for planning the Annual Fall Fundraiser, managing it on the day and completing all necessary post-event activities. The primary objective of this position is to organize and host a well managed, fun and financially successful fundraising event that increases the awareness amongst the Ha Noi community of HSCV’s programs and raises significant funds to support HSCV’s programs. Please download the ToR more information.

Wheelchair Distributions - We are currently seeking volunteers to attend wheelchair distributions throughout Northern Vietnam. Volunteers must speak Vietnamese. Volunteers are asked to interview wheelchair recipients. These interviews must be written into short stories and returned to HSCV in a timely manner and preferably be written in English. These stories are used for verification and fundraising purposes. Transpiration and meals will be provided by HSCV. If you can donate your time please contact Tran Ngoc Lien at tnlien@hscv.org.

Copy editors - Occasionally we are in need of editors to assist with HSCV-team member generated stories and reports. Generally these pieces are only a few paragraphs long and require a quick turn around. Volunteers do not need to be based in Ha Noi to assist. If you are interested in helping please send an email to Tran Ngoc Lien at tnlien@hscv.org.

Translators - Frequently letters are exchanged between sponsors and the children they sponsor. Translators who can translate letters from English to Vietnamese, and from Vietnamese to English are needed. If you are interested please contact Tran Ngoc Lien at tnlien@hscv.org.
