School Scholarships
Without the school scholarships provided by HSCV these wonderful children would be forced to stop attending school. For only $50 you can sponsor an at risk child with a year of school fees. In return you will receive a photo, biography, and have the opportunity to exchange letters, pictures and drawings with the child. Donate $50 now, using paypal's safe and secure network For an additional $205 you can sponsor the child's family with a monthly donation of rice for one year. This donation provides the family with the flexibility to purchase other needed items such as protein, vegetables and clothing. Donate $255 now, using paypal's safe and secure network. Portions of your donation to any of direct sponsorship options will be used to support other HSCV programs where funding may be lacking. |
Roxane Svoboda When my friend, Chuck DeVet, retired and announced that he was going to establish a charity to help children in Vietnam, I said, “That’s really nice”. Secretly I wondered, “Just how much good can one person and a very small amount of money really do?” I thought it took big organizations to accomplish big things. I have always donated to my favorite big charities – Habitat for Humanity, the Red Cross, Planned Parenthood. Really, what more could I do? Or so I thought. Little by little I saw how much Chuck, his daughter, Annetta, and other HSCV volunteers were accomplishing with a little money and a lot of hard work. A donation of a bicycle or a wheel chair can have a profound effect on a person’s life. $8.00 provides rice for a family for a whole month. $50 keeps a child in school for a whole year. These very inexpensive things are life changing. I was truly amazed. Seeing what HSCV was able to accomplish made me do a little soul searching. I realized that I had been the kind of person who, when I saw something I did not like, would think, “That’s awful. Someone should do something about that.” It never occurred to me that I could and should be that someone. I learned that from Chuck, who, I know, is always thinking, “What can I do to help?” I was honored to be asked to join the Board of Directors of HSCV. I am proud to be associated, in my small way, with this great organization. Contact
