School Scholarships

Without the school scholarships provided by HSCV these wonderful children would be forced to stop attending school.

For only $50 you can sponsor an at risk child with a year of school fees. In return you will receive a photo, biography, and have the opportunity to exchange letters, pictures and drawings with the child.

Healing Hearts

In Vietnam today 1 in every 100 children is born with a congenital heart defect, making this the most common birth defect. Due to the lack of medical and post natal care, congenital heart defects commonly go undiagnosed until the child begins to exhibit serious symptoms such as a slow growth rate, eating, breathing and circulatory difficulties. This is when the nightmare begins for the child and their often extremely poor parents.

Vietnam is one of the world’s poorest nations with 30% of the population classified by the United Nations as living in extreme poverty. Today, there are thousands of children throughout Vietnam that are in need of life saving open heart surgery.

The majority of patients assisted by Project Healing Hearts live in the countryside and the most impoverished areas with an average family income of about $1 USD a day or about $350 USD annually, making the cost of treatment for heart disease out of the reach of these families. Parents of children in Vietnam of course love their children no less than elsewhere in the world and families will often exhaust their entire income and assets desperately seeking a cure for their child. But sadly, in the end, the treatment they can afford merely prolongs the inevitable and not only does the family lose their beloved child, they also lose the means to support themselves and all worldly connections to the life they once had.

With Project Healing Hearts we strive to assist as many children with funding for surgery as possible. The average cost for one surgery is $2700 USD, with the most severe cases costing over $3000 USD. Since September of 2004 HSCV has funded 23 successful open heart surgeries. At the time of their operation many of these children were introduced to HSCV they were given less than two months to live.

With every successful sponsorship, we are giving a child the gift of a new life, to grow, create, live life, make their family proud and become a productive member of the world.

Humanitarian Services for Children of Vietnam was incorporated in September 2001. The organization was granted 501(c)(3) status by the Internal Revenue Service in April 2002. All donations to the organization are fully tax deductible. HSCV is a non-sectarian organization, unaffiliated with any other organization.
